Town Administer Michael Mullen and Executive Director of the Dighton Council on Aging Anabela Powell are pleased to welcome new Council on Aging team members and announce the expansion of comprehensive COA programming for senior residents.
Following the recent appointment of Powell as the Town’s new Executive Director of the Dighton Council on Aging, the COA also welcomes Trista Tate, Laura Medeiros and Kate Lawrence.
Tate has been appointed as the new program manager for the COA. In this position, Tate will be responsible for developing, planning, organizing and directing programs and services for senior residents and caregivers.
Prior to joining the COA, Tate worked for the Family Service Association at the same adult day health center for the past 10 years. She began at the health center as a per diem activities assistant working directly with the elderly and disabled. Working her way up, she was most recently promoted to Program Coordinator. She received her associate’s degree in health sciences from Bristol Community College.
Medeiros has joined the COA as the office manager. As the office manager, Medeiros is charged with providing skilled financial, technical and administrative secretarial work to support COA activities and services.
Medeiros previously worked as a certified move coordinator for MacDonald Moving Services/United Van Lines where she served as a customer and account liaison. She received her bachelor’s degree in communication studies from Bridgewater State University and is a life-long Dighton resident.
As an office assistant, Lawrence will assist the program manager and executive director by providing secretarial and customer service work in support of COA activities and programming.
Lawrence most recently worked as a pet waste technician at Doody Calls and has over 10 years of experience working with animals. She received an associate degree in veterinary technology from the New England Institute of Technology.
Those wishing to meet the new COA team are invited to a Meet and Greet Breakfast on Friday, Sept. 9 beginning at 9:30 a.m. at the Dighton Council on Aging’s new office location, 1059 Somerset Ave. Those interested in attending are asked to RSVP at 508-823-0095 by Sept. 6.

Comprehensive COA Programming
The Dighton Council of Aging offers a wide variety of programming for senior residents 60 years and older. The COA office is now located at 1059 Somerset Ave. and no longer at Lincoln Village, however, the COA will continue to hold events at Lincoln Village as well as at the new office location, Dighton Lions Pavilion, etc.

This September, the COA will be offering numerous programs as listed, but not limited to:
- Monday, Sept. 19 at 10:30 a.m. for REAL ID Workshop, Lincoln Village, 300 Lincoln Ave.: Information on new federal and state requirements concerning driver’s licenses and ID card renewals will be discussed at this workshop. Please call 508-823-0095 to RSVP.

The COA also operates Prime Time, Dighton’s Supportive Day Program for seniors. Prime Time is offered three days a week — Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday — from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Prime Time offers seniors the opportunity to socialize, enjoy breakfast, a nutritious lunch and afternoon snacks along with their peers. Various activities are offered throughout the day.
