The Dighton Board of Selectmen, together with Town Administrator Michael Mullen, announce that the Town of Dighton is seeking candidates to fill two planned vacancies on the Dighton Board of Health and encourages residents to apply.
Dighton Board of Health members are appointed by the Board of Selectmen for one-year terms and are eligible for annual reappointment. Currently, the Town has two planned vacancies upon the resignation of Board of Health Chairman Tom Pires in April and member Kevin Bernardo not seeking reappointment.
One of the positions will be filled with a start date of May 1 and the other position will be filled with a start date of July 1.
Board of Health members are responsible for disease prevention and control, health and environmental protection and promoting a healthy community. They also develop, implement and enforce health policies, and oversee and conduct inspections to ensure that the basic health needs and the environment of the community are being met. Applicants are encouraged to apply via email, however, applications will also be accepted by mail or hand delivery to the Board of Health Office, located in the lower level of Old Town Hall at 1111 Somerset Ave.
Those interested should apply as soon as possible, but the applications will be accepted through a rolling process.
