The Dighton Board of Selectmen, together with Town Administrator Michael Mullen, Jr., is pleased to announce that Dighton resident Janelle Vining has been appointed as Dighton’s new Town Accountant.
“We’re excited to have Janelle bring her leadership and love for the Dighton community to Town Hall as a leading member of our finance team,” Town Administrator Mullen said. “Her appointment comes at an exciting and important time for Dighton as we work to strengthen our fiscal planning, forecasting, and capital planning.”
As Town Accountant, Vining, who is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), will serve as an integral part of the financial team responsible for monitoring, directing and auditing the town’s financial and accounting system, including maintaining the fiscal records and systems of the town. She will also serve as a member of the town’s newly re-established Capital Outlay Committee.
Vining has over a decade of accounting experience, most recently serving as an Audit Manager at Farmer & First CPA’s. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Roger Williams University and a master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.
“Dighton is my home, it’s our community, and I’m excited to begin serving as Town Accountant, working alongside our finance team, town officials and residents to continue moving the town forward,” Vining said.
Vining will begin her new role within the Town of Dighton on Aug. 2. She replaces former Town Accountant, Christopher Laviolette.
