Dighton Parks and Recreation Chairman Kevin Smith, together with the Board of Selectmen and Town Administrator, is pleased to invite community members to attend Dighton’s first annual Firecracker Festival next weekend.

WHEN:

Saturday, July 10 from 2 to 6 p.m.

WHERE:

Spratt Memorial Field, 979 Somerset Ave.

WHAT:

The Town of Dighton’s first-ever Firecracker Festival, spearheaded by the Dighton Parks and Recreation Commission, will be held next weekend for all to enjoy.

“After over a year and a half of separation due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we hope residents use this opportunity to come together to have fun, socialize and get to know local organizations and committees,” Chairman Smith said. “We encourage all residents to attend the first of many Firecracker Festivals and we cannot wait to see you all there.”

The festival will include performances by Bill Harley and the Toe Jam Puppet Band and the Dighton-Rehoboth High School marching band. Additional performances and demonstrations will be put on by Special Olympics MA.

There will be several fun activities for kids at the event, including a petting zoo and the chance to Touch-a-Truck with the Dighton Police and Fire Departments. Free face paintings will also be available to attendees courtesy of Marc Kohler.

Food and beverages will be provided by the Dighton Lions Club. Attendees will also have the opportunity to win raffles and prizes, which will be sponsored by local fundraising groups.

At the event, residents will have the chance to interact with town committees and commissions, as well as many non-profit groups from the community who will be there to share their work.

“I would like to recognize the Parks and Recreation Commission for their efforts in spearheading this festival,” said Town Administrator Mullen. “Thanks to their work, Dighton has an exciting summer concert and community outreach day planned.”
