Parks and Recreation Commission Chairman Kevin Smith is pleased to share the Parks and Recreation Commission’s latest plans to revitalize parks throughout the Town of Dighton for all to enjoy.
On Saturday, May 8, Dighton’s Parks and Recreation Commission hosted a meeting in which members visited all the parks the commission maintains throughout Dighton in an effort to identify and document issues that need repair.
While at each location, all equipment was tested to ensure that it will perform its design functions safely and adequately. In attendance was also Dighton’s ADA coordinator Jonathan Gale who cited accessibility issues that pertained to repair concerns.
During the meeting, the commission also voted to approve a discretionary spending request to the Board of Selectmen to fund projects to replace the decrepit sections of fencing at the School Lane playground and Lane Field which desperately need attention.
Additionally, the commission voted to move forward with organizing a concert/community outreach day this summer at the Town Hall / Spratt Memorial Field. Additional details will be released at a later date.
Then, on Sunday, May 9 the commission installed the second basketball hoop and repaired the tennis nets at the basketball and tennis courts on Somerset Avenue.
