 Dighton Council on Aging and Veteran’s Services Partner Together to Host ‘Veteran’s Week’

Executive Director of the Council on Aging Anabela Powell and Veteran’s Services Officer Raymond Hague are pleased to announce that Dighton’s Council on Aging and Veteran’s Services have partnered together to host a week’s worth of events in honor of Dighton’s veterans.

Beginning on Monday, Nov. 7, until Saturday, Nov. 12, a veteran’s-themed event will be held every day as part of Dighton’s “Veteran’s Week.” This week coincides with the Veteran’s Day holiday which is observed annually on Nov. 11 in honor of the military veterans of the United States Armed Forces.

The following events are scheduled to be held next week:

  • Monday, Nov. 7 beginning at 1 p.m.:

Create a Thank You Craft for your favorite veterans at the Dighton Council on Aging, 1059 Somerset Ave. Supplies will be available for those who attend. Those interested in attending are asked to RSVP by calling 508-823-0095.

  • Tuesday, Nov. 8 beginning at 10:15 a.m.:

All are welcome to attend a Patriotic sing-a-long with Dighton Rehoboth Regional High School chorus members, the Dighton Council on Aging and Prime Time at 1059 Somerset Ave.

  • Wednesday, Nov. 9 beginning at 10:30 a.m.:

Community members are invited to attend a meet and greet with Veteran’s Services Officer Hague and local veterans. This event will be held at the Lincoln Village Community Center, 300 Lincoln Ave. Refreshments will be served.

  • Thursday, Nov. 10 beginning at 8:30 a.m.:

All are welcome to join members of Dighton’s Council on Aging and Prime Time, along with Veteran’s Services Officer Hague, at Dighton’s Veteran’s Breakfast located at 1059 Somerset Ave. A flag-lowering ceremony will follow the breakfast. Those interested in attending must RSVP by calling 508-823-0095.

  • Friday, Nov. 11 beginning at 11 a.m.:

A Veteran’s Day Ceremony will be held on Friday to honor all who have served our country. The ceremony will be hosted by the Veteran’s Services Department at the Veteran’s Memorial Park, 979 Somerset Ave.

  • Saturday, Nov. 12 from 9 to 11 a.m.:

The Veteran’s Services Department will be holding a veteran’s only breakfast on Saturday. The breakfast will be held at the Father’s House Family Church, 207 Main St.
