The Dighton Board of Selectmen, together with Town Administrator Michael Mullen, is pleased to announce that Congressman Jake Auchincloss will visit and tour the Town of Dighton this week.

WHEN:

Friday, Nov. 12 from 12:30 to 2 p.m.

WHERE:

The tour of Dighton will include the following locations in chronological order:

  • Spring Street Mill – 620 Spring St., North Dighton
  • Dighton Fire Station #1 – 300 Main St., Dighton
  • Alice’s Last Stop, 1901 County St., Dighton

WHAT:

Congressman Auchincloss will visit the Town of Dighton this Friday to tour the town and meet with local elected officials and small business owners. Congressman Auchincloss’ visit to Dighton will coincide with Congress’ current focus on infrastructure funding with discussions about needed funding to complete Dighton’s Main Street water main replacement project. Dighton officials will also discuss the need for public safety facility upgrades and potential funding through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) and related federal assistance.

The tour will begin at the Spring Street Mill, 620 Spring St., to discuss the economic development and revitalization of the 34-acre property. Also in attendance at this location will be representatives from Feeney Brothers, the current owners of the Spring Street Mill, and Pure Oasis Founder and Co-owner Kobie Evans who has proposed a marijuana cultivation facility at the property.

Following the Spring Street Mill stop, officials will then visit the Dighton Fire Station on Main Street to discuss Main Street infrastructure including the current fire department facilities, water main replacement request and more. Expected attendees at this location include Dighton Water District Consultant Scott Medeiros from Woodard & Curran, Dighton Fire Chief Christopher Maguy and on-duty Dighton Fire Department staff.

The tour will conclude at Alice’s Last Stop on County Street where officials will discuss the ongoing efforts of Dighton’s Trails Committee and Route 138 economic development planning and sewer expansion. Dighton Trails Committee Chairman Jeff Carvalho and Alice’s Last Stop owner Brian Stone will also be in attendance.
