Chief Robert MacDonald is pleased to announce that the Dighton Police Department is once again wearing pink patches in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month as part of the Pink Patch Project.
The Pink Patch Project is a collaborative public awareness campaign, in partnership with more than 150 public safety agencies nationwide. Its goals are designed to increase education about the importance of early detection and prevention in the fight against breast cancer, and to support breast cancer patients and research organizations in combating this devastating disease.
During October, which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, uniformed personnel are empowered to replace their standard shoulder patch with the Dighton Police Pink Patch as a reminder of the department’s commitment to raising awareness among those they serve.
The department will also be selling patches to raise funds for a cure. All proceeds from the pink patch sale will benefit the Cancer Care Program at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro.
Those who would like to purchase a patch can do so at the Dighton Police Department, 1458 Somerset Ave. Patches cost $10 and can be purchased with either cash or check. Checks should be made out to Dighton Police Officers Local 306. Those who purchase a patch and need it shipped to them will be charged an extra $2 for shipping costs.
“In observation of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we will once again be participating in the Pink Patch Project,” Chief MacDonald said. “Throughout the month, our officers will be wearing a Dighton Police Pink Patch to spread awareness, and we encourage our residents to join us in our efforts. Those interested in purchasing a patch can do so at our department and we encourage you to share photos of your patches on social media.”
