DIGHTON — Chief Shawn Cronin, on behalf of the Dighton Police Department, would like to congratulate Sgt. George Nichols for earning the FBI-LEEDA Trilogy Award after successfully completing three advanced law enforcement training courses this month.

The FBI-LEEDA Trilogy Award is given to a law enforcement professional who successfully completes the FBI-LEEDA Supervisor Leadership Institute, Command Leadership Institute and Executive Leadership Institute. Sgt. Nichols completed his training on June 9.

“I would like to congratulate Sgt. Nichols for receiving the prestigious FBI-LEEDA Trilogy Award as it is a true testament of his continuous pursuit of knowledge,” Chief Cronin said. “Since joining the department, Sgt. Nichols has always been unwavering in his commitment to uplifting our department and the men and women he serves alongside. I look forward to him using his new skills and knowledge to help further grow our department and ranks.”

Sgt. Nichols joined the Dighton Police Department in 2003 as a part-time officer. While serving as a part-time officer, he went on to attend the police academy before being appointed as a full-time officer in 2005.

In 2009, Sgt. Nichols became a taser instructor for the department and shortly after became a firearms licensing officer. Nichols went on to be promoted to sergeant in 2016 and attended field training officer school. Since attending field training school, Sgt. Nichols has dedicated much of his time to helping out new officers in the department.

“I’m continuously trying to serve as a good role model for our new hires through embodying what a real supervisor is supposed to be,” Sgt. Nichols said. “Part of this work is staying up to date with the latest industry trends and pursuing new opportunities to learn law enforcement best practices. I’m pleased to have been able to attend the FBI-LEEDA trilogy courses and receive the training needed for me to continue to serve as a role model.”
