Chief Christopher Maguy would like to thank Capt. Christopher Ready for his many years of dedicated service to the Dighton Fire Department and wishes him well in his retirement.

On Saturday, Oct. 15, the Dighton Fire Department, alongside Capt. Ready’s family and friends, gathered together to celebrate Capt. Ready’s 36 years of service to the Dighton Fire Department and his retirement.

Capt. Ready joined the Dighton Fire Department as a call member on Jan. 1, 1986. He was then hired as a full-time firefighter on July 4, 1988. Capt. Ready went on to be promoted to the rank of lieutenant in February 1997 and assumed responsibility for the Fire Prevention program which he oversaw for the remainder of his career.

He was most recently promoted to the rank of captain on May 5, 2019.

Most notably, Capt. Ready traveled to New York City in the weeks following the 9/11 terrorist attacks to assist with recovery efforts and to Worcester in 1999 to assist with the Cold Storage Fire with the Critical Incident Stress Team.

“Capt. Ready is a perfect example of what it means to be selfless while serving others, as demonstrated through his impressive 36-year career and his responses to several critical incidents that were outside of our mutual aid network,” Chief Maguy said. “Capt. Ready will be greatly missed, however, the fire department and all its personnel wish Capt. Ready health and happiness in his retirement.”
