Chief Christopher Maguy is pleased to announce that the Dighton Fire Department has appointed Sarah Desmond as a full-time firefighter/paramedic.

Desmond began her role as a full-time firefighter/paramedic on Oct. 2 when she worked her first full-time shift with the department.

Desmond began her career with the Dighton Fire Department as a Call Paramedic on April 10, 2022. She also works as a paramedic at Southcoast Physicians Group currently. Prior to joining Dighton Fire, Desmond worked as an EMS provider in a neighboring community and as an English teacher at the Bristol County Agricultural High School.

Desmond will be enrolled in the next Massachusetts Career Recruit Firefighting Academy that’s available.

“We ask that the Dighton community join us in congratulating Sarah on her full-time appointment within the Dighton Fire Department,” said Chief Maguy. “I’m confident based on what I’ve seen so far that she will excel in this new role. On behalf of the department, we wish Sarah a happy and healthy career.”
