Chief Robert MacDonald is pleased to announce that the newest member of the Dighton Police Department has graduated from the MPTC Plymouth Police Academy.

Officer Aaron Swartz graduated as part of the academy’s 71st Recruit Officer Class on Friday, Feb. 18. Officer Swartz began his new position with the Dighton Police Department on Sunday, Feb. 20, and was officially sworn in today, Feb. 23, by Assistant Town Clerk Pamela Tenglin.

Officer Swartz previously worked as a reserve police officer for the Dighton Police Department and as a seasonal police officer for the Wareham Police Department. He also served as an on-call firefighter for the Pittsfield Fire Department.

Prior to graduating from the MPTC Plymouth Police Academy, Officer Swartz also graduated from the South Eastern Massachusetts Police Training Association’s Reserve Police Academy in 2018. He received his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Fitchburg State University.

“We are pleased to welcome Officer Swartz to the Dighton Police Department as our newest full-time officer upon his successful completion of the Plymouth Police Academy,” Chief MacDonald said. “On behalf of the members of the Dighton Police Department, we would like to wish Officer Swartz a very safe and fulfilling career here in our community.”
