Chief Robert MacDonald, on behalf of the Dighton Police Department, would like to congratulate Julia Horton following her appointment as the department’s newest full-time officer.

“I am pleased to appoint Officer Horton as our newest full-time officer here in Dighton,” Chief MacDonald said. “She is an extremely capable individual having been the top scorer on our test, and she has proven to be eager and open to learning new things during her time as a reserve officer with our department. I look forward to Officer Horton continuing to grow with our department and I encourage you all in joining me in congratulating her on this accomplishment.”

Officer Horton was hired as a part-time officer with Dighton Police in July and officially started work on July 12. While a part-time officer, she completed the required eight-week Field Training program.

Officer Horton previously worked as a dispatcher at Stonehill College in Easton and graduated from the Plymouth Police Academy as a member of Class 20-02 in September 2020.

Officer Horton will attend the Randolph Police Academy in January.
