Chief Robert MacDonald reports that the Dighton Police Department has identified the individuals involved in the vandalism incident that occurred at Dighton-Rehoboth High School on Saturday, Jan. 30.
Following the review of surveillance footage, Dighton Police and Det. Ryan Richards were able to identify a vehicle that was observed in the area of the Dighton-Rehoboth High School field on Saturday night.
The individuals responsible for the incident were identified on Wednesday, Feb. 3 and have been in contact with the Dighton Police Department and Dighton-Rehoboth High School administrators.
At the request of Dighton-Rehoboth High School, the police department has turned the matter over to school district officials.
“We would like to thank all of our community members for their assistance during the investigation,” Chief MacDonald said. “Through their diligent efforts, we were able to identify the vehicle suspected to be involved in this incident which resulted in the responsible parties coming forward.”
On Sunday morning, Jan. 31, Dighton Police received a report of damage done to the Dighton-Rehoboth High School softball field and junior varsity baseball field, which also serves as the high school’s football practice field. It appeared that a vehicle had driven “donuts” on the field causing deep ruts in the grass.
