Police Chief Robert MacDonald and Fire Chief Christopher Maguy are pleased to announce that the Dighton Police and Fire Departments will host a “Stuff-A-Cruiser” event this weekend to collect gifts for Dighton families in need this holiday season.

WHEN:

Saturday, Dec. 12, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

WHERE:

Old Town Hall, 1111 Somerset Ave.

WHAT:

Dighton Police and Fire will host their annual “Stuff-A-Cruiser” event for the sixth year this weekend. At the event, police and fire volunteers will be accepting new, unwrapped toys for boys and girls ages infant to teenager.

All gifts such as toys, books, games, puzzles and more will be accepted. Winter gear such as new, unworn hats, gloves and jackets will be accepted as well. Once collected, gifts will be placed into the back of Dighton Police cruisers.

“In the spirit of giving back, we will be collecting gifts and winter necessities this weekend to donate to Dighton families in need,” Chief MacDonald said. “We look forward to this year’s turnout as more families are in need of assistance this holiday season due to the ongoing pandemic. Any donation will go a long way in making a child’s day.”

Additionally, Santa Claus will be at the event to greet those in attendance. Dighton Police and Fire apparatus will be present as well.

Dighton Police and Fire remind any residents planning on attending the “Stuff-A-Cruiser” event that social distancing and mask wearing will be required at all times.

Following the “Stuff-A-Cruiser” event, Dighton Police and Fire will host a distribution event on Tuesday, Dec. 15 at the Dighton Middle School, 1250R Somerset Ave, from 6-8 p.m.

The Dighton Lions Club and Father’s House Family Church will assist police and fire at the distribution event. All families in need of gifts for the upcoming holiday season are encouraged to pick up gifts between the times of 6 to 8 p.m.  Any leftover gifts will be donated to the Salvation Army by the Father’s House Family Church.

“We are extremely excited to once again participate in the annual ‘Stuff-A-Cruiser’ event alongside the police department,” Chief Maguy said. “This event allows us to assist those who may be struggling this holiday season and spread some holiday cheer. We ask that anyone attending the donation or distribution events to wear a mask and abide by proper social distancing guidelines.”
