Dighton Highway Superintendent Tom Ferry, together with Town Administrator Michael Mullen, would like to invite community members to attend this Thursday’s Conservation Commission meeting to learn more about the upcoming Main Street Water Main and Road Reconstruction project.

On Thursday, March 17 beginning at 7 p.m., the Conservation Commission will host their monthly meeting at the Upper-Level of the Old Town Hall, 1111 Somerset Ave. At the meeting, the Dighton Water District and the District’s engineers, together with the Dighton Highway Department, will present an introduction to the Main Street Water Main and Road Reconstruction project.

The project scope will include the water main replacement and road reconstruction for Main Street in its entirety.

“We’re excited to be kicking off the Main Street road water main and road reconstruction permitting process together with the Water District, the Conservation Commission and town stakeholders,” Highway Superintendent Ferry said. “Thursday’s meeting is the first step in introducing the project, sharing project information and timelines, and beginning the permitting and review process. We’re committed to working with all stakeholders throughout this process to make this project a success for all. We encourage community members to attend and give their feedback.”

Planning and surveying efforts have been underway between the Dighton Highway Department and Dighton Water District for the Main Street Water Main and Road Reconstruction Project for the past several months.

Following this Thursday’s introductory meeting, the Conservation Commission Public Hearing is anticipated to be scheduled for Thursday, April 21, at 7 p.m. at the Old Town Hall. Abutter notifications are planned for this meeting.

Additional upcoming meetings to discuss the project’s schedule and phasing of the project between the Water District and Town of Dighton, together with town employees and applicable Commissions/Committees, will be scheduled at later dates.
