Chief Christopher Maguy is pleased to announce that the Dighton Fire Department, with the help of the Dighton Lions Club, will be ushering Santa Claus around town next weekend to spread some Christmas cheer.

WHEN:

Sunday, Dec. 13, beginning at 9 a.m.

The event will have a rain date of Sunday, Dec. 20, beginning at 9 a.m.

WHERE:

The Dighton Fire Department will be ushering Santa throughout the Town of Dighton. Residents will be alerted to Santa’s location with sirens and air horns.

WHO:

  • Santa Claus
  • Dighton Fire Department
  • Dighton Lions Club

WHAT:

Ahead of Santa’s journey around the globe on Christmas Eve, Santa will first be visiting the Town of Dighton next Sunday. During his visit, Santa will ride in a Dighton fire truck while waving and tossing candy out to residents.

For the past six decades, the Dighton Fire Department, with the help of the Dighton Lions Club, has ushered Santa around every street in town to wish residents a Merry Christmas. Residents are encouraged to listen for Santa’s arrival next Sunday and keep an eye out for his appearance.

Residents are also encouraged to monitor social media and track Santa’s location on there as residents in the past have done a great job of updating his location throughout town with posts.

The Dighton Fire Departments asks that residents do not call the Dighton Communications Center regarding Santa’s location on the day of the event. Dispatchers need to be available to answer emergency calls and any inquiries regarding Santa’s location potentially takes a dispatcher away from any emergencies that may occur.

Families are asked to ensure that proper social distancing is being maintained during the event. Families should also wear masks and use extreme caution while Santa is traveling throughout the town.

“Once again, we will be ushering Santa around the town to spread some holiday cheer and wish everyone a Merry Christmas,” Chief Maguy said. “This year, we strongly urge residents to remain on their own property during Santa’s visit to abide by social distancing guidelines. As always, we thank the community for their support and participation in this annual event.”
