 The Dighton Board of Selectmen is pleased to announce that the Town of Dighton is currently accepting applications for the position of conversation agent.

The conservation agent will report directly to Dighton’s Conservation Commission. In this role, the conversation agent will work to protect and manage all of Dighton’s expansive conservation land, and perform administration of the Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act and Dighton’s Wetland Bylaw.

“We are looking for an energetic individual who is passionate about the environment and conservation,” Board of Selectmen Chairman Brett Zografos said. “We encourage anyone who believes they fit this description to apply for this role.”

The responsibilities and duties of this position include, but are not limited to:

  •  Advising on location of wetlands, where to locate new construction, activities allowed near a wetland, etc;
  • Monitoring construction projects for consistency with plans and wetlands permits;
  • Advising, evaluating and recommending options to the Conservation Commission and Planning Board according to local, state and federal laws and regulations pertaining to wetland protections, erosion control, new construction and other developments;
  • Arranging, conducting and performing field inspections related to filings, permit compliance, construction monitoring and enforcement.

A bachelor’s degree or higher in an environmental-related field, three to five years of experience, or any equivalent combination is preferred for this position. Additionally, all candidates are required to have municipal experience and a driver’s license.
