Chief Robert MacDonald is pleased to announce that the Dighton Police Department is taking part in the Pink Patch Project throughout the month of October.
The Pink Patch Project is a collaborative public awareness campaign, in partnership with more than 150 public safety agencies nationwide. Its goals are designed to increase education about the importance of early detection and prevention in the fight against breast cancer, and to support breast cancer patients and research organizations in combating this devastating disease.
During October, which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, uniformed personnel are empowered to replace their standard shoulder patch with the Dighton Police Pink Patch as a reminder of the department’s commitment to raising awareness among those they serve.
The department will also be selling patches to the public to raise funds for a cure. Those who would like to purchase a patch can do so at the Dighton Police Station’s Communications Center, 1458 Somerset Ave. Patches cost $10 and can be purchased with either cash or check. Checks should be made out to Dighton Police Officers Local 306.
“We are excited to be participating in the Pink Patch Project once again during Breast Cancer Awareness Month,” Chief MacDonald said. “We saw tremendous success last year thanks to the efforts of our officers and community members. We encourage anyone who wishes to join our officers in raising awareness about breast cancer this year to purchase a patch if they are able and share it on social media.”
