DIGHTON – Chief Christopher Maguy is pleased to announce that the Dighton Fire Department received its new ambulance this week and is working to prepare the vehicle for service later this month.
The Dighton Fire Department received delivery of its new Ambulance 1, a Braun Ford F-450 Type 1 Ambulance, from Hopkinton-based Bulldog Fire Apparatus on Tuesday, July 30.
Over the next several days the department will be outfitting the new ambulance with its required equipment and it will be put into service to proudly serve the residents of the Town of Dighton.
The custom Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulance features a Knox Box Medication Vault, built-in medication refrigerator, Code 3 Germ-Killing Patient Compartment and Stryker Power-LOAD stretcher system. The technology systems include a Sierra Wireless Modem, custom mounted docking stations and lighting powered by Vital Vio. The unit’s exterior is equipped with a sliding curbside door and howler siren.
“We’re very proud to be putting this ambulance into service,” Chief Maguy said. “This new state-of-the-art unit replaces an older ambulance which will enhance our department’s ability to protect and assist our community during medical calls and emergency situations.”
Once in service, the new ambulance unit will be housed at Dighton Fire Rescue Station 1 and will be used by all personnel.
The new ambulance joins the department’s existing fleet which includes three pumper engines, one ladder, one heavy rescue, two small forestry units, one large forestry unit and two other ALS ambulances. The Dighton Fire Department also houses the Southeastern Regional EMS Mass Casualty Incident trailer, the Bristol County Foam Cache and the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection spill trailer.
